Croz De La Spora – Via Alessandro Mattivi and Simone Navarini Tower– Via del Rame
Climbed near Malga Spora: a few years ago, while going up towards Croz dell’Altissimo, I noticed a dolomite fin that looked quite solid. I took a picture and promised myself I would come back.
In 2025 the idea came back to me, and together with Eros Mattivi and Paolo Nicolini, on August 14–15, 2025, we set out with the goal of climbing the fin first ascended in 1929 by Brunner, and later by Pisoni and Giovannini. Nowadays, for the descent, there is a via ferrata. To the right of the Crozzon della Spora stands the tower of Simone, who sadly left us at a young age this year, near Malga Spora.
The two routes were opened in a single day and cleaned only relatively little. A hammer and pitons are recommended for a repeat ascent. These are alpine routes. We used a set of Totems up to blue 3 and grey 4, Wild Country, plus a set of Wild Country Offsets.
Not all belays on the two routes are equipped with two fixed points, except for the abseils on Torre Simone Navarini.
