Trekking Catinaccio

3-day 300€

A RING TREKKING THAT MAKES A SPECTACULAR CROSSING FROM THE CATINACCIO GROUP TO THE SASSOLUNGO GROUP, ACROSS TYPICAL DOLOMITIC ENVIRONMENTS AND ALPINE PASTURES.

The trek begins in Pian Pecei, reachable by two sections of the chairlift from Pera di Fassa. We proceed towards the Gardeccia basin, in the presence of the impressive walls of the Catinaccio-Rosengarten; we quickly gain altitude by climbing north towards Val de Vaiolèt, to arrive at Passo Principe. From here, bypassing the Catinaccio di Antermoia, we cross the wide valley that descends towards the spectacular glacial lake of Antermoia and the homonymous hut, where we stay overnight.

The second day we move in the direction of Val Duron, with a decisive change of environment, characterized by extensive mountain pastures and outcrops of volcanic rocks; go up to the Duron pass, where the view also widens towards the Alpe di Siusi and finally along the ridge that stretches eastwards to the Sassopiatto hut, located at the foot of the homonymous peak; we are on the south-west side of the Dolomite crown of the Sassolungo Group.

On the third day we descend towards the entrance of Val Duron, where we find the Micheluzzi hut; go up the north side of the valley to reach the ridge that dominates the Val di Dona, an idyllic and wild valley of pastures. We cross it in a westerly direction until we reach the head of the Udai Valley, which with a steep descent takes us back upstream from Mazzin di Fassa and finally to Pera.
